Medicare Rights Center to Participate in President Obama’s Town Hall Meeting
to Discuss Health Reform with Older AmericansWashington, D.C.—President Barack Obama will participate in a telephone town hall meeting at a senior center in Wheaton, Maryland, on Tuesday, June 8, to discuss the recently passed health reform law and its effects on older adults.
The President will be joined by Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius. Among the topics they will discuss are the $250 rebate checks for people with Medicare who enter the coverage gap in the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit, and the anti-fraud efforts that are taking place in advance of the check mailing.
“We are pleased to participate in this important town hall meeting, and commend President Obama and Secretary Sebelius for their efforts to get accurate information to seniors and respond to their questions,” said Medicare Rights Center President Joe Baker. “This is an excellent opportunity for people with Medicare to become better informed about the Affordable Care Act and for the President and the Secretary to hear directly from older adults about the questions they have.”
