Heather Bates Named Medicare Rights Centerís
Vice President of Client Services and Program Management
New York, NY—The Medicare Rights Center has named Heather Bates its new Vice President of Client Services and Program Management. Bates was previously the Director of Enrollment for Low-Income Programs at Medicare Rights.
In her new role, Bates will oversee the expansion and optimization of the Client Services Department, the primary team that is responsible for the delivery of all direct client services provided by Medicare Rights.
“I am delighted that Heather has accepted this new position,” said Joe Baker, president of the Medicare Rights Center. “Her considerable talents will help position the organization to serve our clients even better as the Medicare program continues to evolve. We’ve heard from Medicare consumers who are anxious and confused, and we expect the demand for our services to increase in the coming years. Heather will work to ensure that our Client Services Department is up to meeting these challenges.”
“This is a particularly exciting time to be working on Medicare, aging and health policy issues,” said Bates. “I am honored to be given this opportunity, and am looking forward to continuing to work with my colleagues to improve our services for people with Medicare.”
In the past two years as Director of Enrollment for Low-Income Programs at Medicare Rights, Bates managed programs that were designed to increase access to various benefits that help people with low incomes afford health care. During her tenure, the enrollment team embarked on new partnerships to expand its outreach, and Medicare Rights played a critical role in achieving several city, state and federal reforms that now make it easier for people with low incomes to access the benefits they are entitled to.
Bates has over 15 years of experience in the field of aging services and health policy. She has been a geriatric care manager, and has also worked at Families USA and the New York City Department for the Aging. Bates holds an LMSW from the Hunter College School of Social Work and a BSW from Ohio University.
