New York, NY—The Medicare Rights Center will honor the Honorable Nita M. Lowey, U.S. Congresswoman; Susan D. DeVore, President and CEO of Premier Healthcare Alliance; and Dennis Rivera, Special Advisor to the President of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), at its 2010 Awards Dinner at the Mandarin Oriental, Columbus Circle, on Monday, October 18, at 6:00 p.m.
For over two decades, the Medicare Rights Center, a national nonprofit consumer service organization, has worked to ensure access to affordable health care for older adults and people with disabilities through counseling and advocacy, educational programs and public policy initiatives.
“We are proud to celebrate these advocates who work tirelessly to increase access to affordable health care and improve the quality of life for people in this country,” said Joe Baker, president of the Medicare Rights Center. “Our honorees’ efforts strengthen the American health care system and bolster our own efforts to preserve and improve the Medicare program.”
Perri Peltz, former co-anchor at WNBC News, will serve as Master of Ceremonies at the event. Volunteer Mary Cullen will receive special recognition for her fourteen years of dedicated service at Medicare Rights.
The evening will begin with a cocktail reception at 6:00 p.m., with dinner to follow at 7:00 p.m. All proceeds from the Awards Dinner will go towards supporting the work of the Medicare Rights Center.
