Statement of Medicare Rights Center President Joe Baker on President Obama’s Framework for the Federal Budget
New York, NY − The budget framework outlined by President Obama today protects those who rely on Medicare and Medicaid and recognizes that rising health care costs are the problem, not these valuable programs and the Americans who rely on them. The President’s budget framework and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) create Medicare savings without passing extra costs onto consumers, strengthen delivery system reforms to improve care quality and efficiency, and enhance Medicare benefits by closing the coverage gap, known as the “doughnut hole,” and by adding preventive care benefits.
