Statement by Medicare Rights Center President Joe Baker on the
Importance of Preventive Care
New York, NY – Preventive services are an important piece to the puzzle of quality, patient-centered health care, especially for older adults and people with disabilities. People with Medicare should seek the advice of their doctor to come up with a preventive care plan that best meets their needs. Medicare’s national campaign to promote preventive care, which launched today, will help raise awareness of Medicare-covered services, including the new Annual Wellness Visit and preventive screenings such as mammograms, colonoscopies and bone mass measurements.
