Statement by Medicare Rights Center President Joe Baker on
Congressional Conference Agreement that Prevents Medicare Physician Payment Cuts
New York, NY–The congressional conference agreement that prevents Medicare physician payment cuts through 2012 is a good thing for beneficiaries, who can now feel confident that they will continue to have access to their physicians and the health care they need. As finding funding to prevent these cuts becomes more difficult each time Congress temporarily fixes this problem, we hope that this year, they will find a way to permanently repeal the SGR formula, while still preserving the affordability and quality of care that Medicare provides to those it serves and keeping other important health programs intact.
