The Position— Finance Associate 

 Medicare Rights is seeking a full-time Finance Associate. Our ideal candidate is familiar with financial management principles and possesses strong analytical skills to guide informed business decisions. Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements, working closely with other departments to ensure the accuracy of financial data.  

This role works directly with the Director of Operations & Finance, in a hybrid schedule (3 days in the office, 2 days remote). Work on ad hoc requests and inquiries from senior management, supporting the decision-making process. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Supervise and monitor contracts and grants, in collaboration with the Director of Operations & Finance. Process monthly expense reports and vouchers, providing accurate financial analysis in the review of monthly billings and reconciliations. 
  • Assist in preparation of the annual budget and budget modification for contracts and grants. Maintaining budget spreadsheet templates and ensuring that deadlines are met timely and efficiently. 
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date grant and contract agreements in SharePoint. 
  • Process accounts payable and reconcile corporate credit card usage.  Apply strong AP technical skills, including a robust understanding of AP debits and credits.  
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for timesheets preparation and completion. Manages time allocations.  
  • Participate in Ad Hoc projects assigned, such as creating custom reports in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and other advanced functions. 
  • Assist with month-end close by performing journal entries, payable processes 
  • Provide administrative support for the annual budget process as directed by the Director of Operations & Finance. 
  • Retrieve and organize accounts receivable, grant, and contract data to support the Finance team in responding to auditor requests during financial audits. 
  • Assist with office/facility management as needed.  

Qualifications 

  • BS/MA degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics, combined with 2-3 years of related professional experience. 
  • Advance level of proficiency in Outlook, Teams and SharePoint 
  • Superior level of proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Excel 
  • Strong understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles to ensure accuracy in financial reports and compliance with regulations. 
  • Numerical skills to accurately handle numbers, conduct complex calculations, and interpret financial data. 
  • Analytical skills to assess financial data, forecast trends, and make strategic financial recommendations. 
  • Detail-oriented nature with a self-starter attitude and ability to exercise judgment and prioritize workload to ensure completion by established deadlines. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect confidential information 
  • Experience with or knowledge of cost accounting best practices is a plus.

Salary Range: Salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications. $65,000.00 minimum to $68,000 maximum.
