— Statement by Fred Riccardi, President of the Medicare Rights Center —

New York, NY—The Medicare Rights Center applauds Governor Hochul’s decision to improve health coverage and care in New York by expanding eligibility for Medicaid. This urgently needed reform will help more New Yorkers better access and afford vital services—strengthening the health, well-being, and economic security of older adults, people with disabilities, and their families.

We thank Governor Hochul for her leadership and advocates throughout the state for tirelessly championing this critical policy. We look forward to working together to implement and build upon this landmark advancement, including through similar updates to Medicare’s financial assistance programs that would further improve the lives of older adults and people with disabilities living on limited incomes.
