Medicare Rights Center to Honor The Healthcare Education Project at its Annual Awards Dinner on October 16
–HEP Executive Director Kirk Adams and Co-Chairs George Gresham and Ken Raske to be Recognized–

New York, NY–The Medicare Rights Center will host its Annual Awards Dinner on October 16 where it will honor The Healthcare Education Project and its executive director, Kirk Adams. HEP Co-Chairs George Gresham, president of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East (1199SEIU), and Ken Raske, president and CEO of the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA), will also be recognized at the event, which will take place at the Mandarin Oriental, New York at 6:00 p.m.

The Healthcare Education Project (HEP), a unique labor-management alliance between 1199SEIU and GNYHA, works to protect and expand access to quality, affordable healthcare for all New Yorkers through education, advocacy, and coalition building.

“Medicare Rights looks forward to paying tribute to The Healthcare Education Project, a collaborative project that has become one of the nation’s most influential health care advocacy voices,” said Joe Baker, president of the Medicare Rights Center. “Coalitions are the bedrock to ensure access to affordable health care for everyone across the nation and HEP has been invaluable in leading the charge to preserve essential programs like Medicaid and Medicare, particularly over the last 9 months.”

The Medicare Rights Center, based in New York City, is a national, nonprofit consumer service organization that works to ensure access to affordable health care for older adults and people with disabilities through counseling and advocacy, educational programs, and public policy initiatives.

Nancy Richardson, a Medicare Rights Center volunteer with over 13 years of service counseling clients on the organization’s national helpline, will also be honored at the event.

About 400 representatives from health care, labor unions, and community-based organizations are attending this year’s Annual Awards Dinner. All proceeds from the event will go toward supporting the work of the Medicare Rights Center.
