Chris had been receiving disability benefits after suffering from a traumatic brain injury, making him eligible for Medicare. He was also enrolled in Medicaid, which supplemented his coverage for essential care beyond what Medicare alone could offer.
During the height of the pandemic, Chris turned to us when his Medicaid was wrongfully discontinued. He received contradictory information about why he lost coverage, which left him exposed to high out-of-pocket costs and an inability to access care.
Chris’ case was plagued by technical glitches resulting in multiple unjust termination notices, but his Medicare Rights counselor worked tirelessly to fix the issue. We are proud to report that we got Chris’ Medicaid reinstated retroactively, without any gaps in his coverage—at no charge to Chris. He was also enrolled in a Medicare Savings Program, which saves an estimated $7,300 a year on Medicare costs.
