Erika, a hardworking mom, and her 14-year-old son T were referred to Medicare Rights for help accessing T’s life-saving prescription drugs. Erika was paying out of pocket for her son’s vital medications prescribed to prevent rejection of his transplanted kidney, as she was hitting roadblocks when trying to enroll him in Medicare.
Medicare Rights worked with Erika to help T enroll into Medicare and gain coverage for his medications. T was also eligible for an assistance program, which lowered the high out-of-pocket costs of his prescriptions as well as ongoing care related to his End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). Through the diligent advocacy of Medicare Rights, working with T’s health care providers and government agencies, the family now has peace of mind knowing that T is getting his necessary care.
