Celebrating 35 years of making Medicare more accessible, affordable, and equitable!

In a Client’s Words: Letter to Medicare Rights

“I want to say thank you to Ellen and Frances who were invaluable in helping me navigate the swamp of COBRA and Medicare. After receiving misinformation or incomplete information from my employer and Medicare—and spending days on the phone and searching the Internet—they gave me the information I needed to proceed with ensuring I had Medicare coverage without gaps or penalties.

Thank you seems insufficient—you have helped me sleep more easily and allowed me to move on to retirement knowing I have made the right Medicare-related decisions.

I am so very grateful that your organization exists and is staffed by knowledgeable, patient, and wonderful people.” –Ms. F, New Jersey

Medicare Rights recently received this letter of appreciation from Ms. F, a client who counselors Ellen Minton and Frances Pandolfi helped with coordination of COBRA and Medicare.

While Ms. F was able to avoid gaps in coverage and life-long penalties, many others experience both due to confusion surrounding Medicare enrollment and how it works with other types of insurance.

To help prevent enrollment mistakes, Medicare Rights developed the BENES Act, which would help to ensure those approaching eligibility are educated about enrollment rules and how other insurance works with Medicare.

Stories like Ms. F’s show the true value of our efforts. If Medicare Rights has assisted you with a health care problem and you would like to share your experience, please contact Anna Szilagyi at 212-204-6264 or aszilagyi@medicarerights.org.
